Something about us
About us
At Bursaria, we see childhood as a time of wonder, curiosity, and possibility. Our purpose-built centre offers a warm and inspiring environment for children aged six weeks to six years, where relationships, exploration, and creativity are at the heart of learning. Drawing inspiration from the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we value children as strong, capable, and resilient, rich with ideas and full of potential. Our indoor and outdoor spaces are thoughtfully designed as “the third teacher,” inviting discovery, collaboration, and a deep connection to the natural world.
Learning at Bursaria is guided by the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework, while remaining open to the unique interests, voices, and rhythms of the children. We believe in emergent, play-based, and inquiry-driven experiences that honour the hundred languages of childhood, fostering creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

Our Philosophy
Respect and Inclusion
We acknowledge and value each child’s individuality and cultural heritage, fostering an inclusive environment where diversity is respected and children experience a strong sense of belonging and psychological safety.
Curiosity and Inquiry
Our curriculum promotes intrinsic motivation by encouraging children’s natural curiosity and inquiry-based learning. Children are supported to formulate questions, investigate their environment, and engage in experiential, hands-on activities that build critical thinking skills.
Creativity and Expression
We recognize multiple modes of expression, aligned with the Reggio Emilia philosophy’s “hundred languages” framework, enabling children to communicate ideas and emotions through visual arts, music, movement, and narrative, thus supporting holistic development.
Community and Partnership
Collaborative partnerships with families and the local community are integral to our educational approach, enriching children’s learning contexts and supporting culturally responsive pedagogy.
Sustainability and Caring for Nature
We embed principles of sustainability and ecological responsibility into practice, encouraging children’s development of environmental awareness and stewardship through direct engagement with nature and sustainable practices.
At Bursaria Early Learning Centre, children are viewed as capable, curious, and full of potential. We believe learning is a journey co-constructed through relationships, exploration, and play. Our educators act as guides and collaborators, fostering inquiry and creativity in thoughtfully prepared environments. We value the hundred languages of children, encouraging expression through art, storytelling, nature and movement. Partnerships with families and the community are central to our philosophy. Together, we nurture a respectful, inclusive, and joyful space where every child’s voice is heard, and their sense of identity and belonging is honoured.
