Our School Readiness Program at Bursaria Early Learning Centre supports children’s smooth transition into formal schooling by nurturing their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth in a thoughtful, child-centred way. Guided by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we believe school readiness happens best when children are active participants in their learning and supported in developing confidence, curiosity, and independence.

Social and Emotional Growth

We help children build self-awareness and emotional regulation skills by encouraging them to recognise their feelings and express them constructively. Through group activities and conversations, children practice empathy, cooperation, and problem-solving – skills essential for positive relationships at school.

Cognitive Development Through Inquiry

Rather than focusing on rote learning, our program encourages children to ask questions, explore ideas, and engage in projects that reflect their interests. This approach naturally builds foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking, while fostering a love for learning.

Physical Skills and Well-being

Children develop coordination, balance, and fine motor skills through daily opportunities for movement, play, and hands-on activities. These experiences prepare them physically for school routines like writing, playing, and participating in group games.

Fostering Independence and Responsibility

We support children in taking ownership of their learning and daily tasks. This includes managing personal belongings, following routines, and making choices—building the confidence and self-reliance needed for school life.

Family Engagement

We value strong partnerships with families and maintain ongoing communication about each child’s progress. Families are encouraged to share their insights and work together with educators to support their child’s readiness for school
